Our Movement classes offer fun, play-based classes that are not sport-specific, but instead aim to develop strength, flexibility, agility and co-ordination in a balanced way throughout the body. Classes will help participants gain overall movement capabilities, making their bodies stronger, more capable, and more adaptable, while helping prevent injuries.
Students will co-operatively hone skills during partner games as well as have time for self-reflection and learning about their own body. The focus is more on co-operation than competition.
Sport-specific training can develop aspects of the body at the expense of other modalities. That’s where natural, full-body, movement practices come in. In our classes we aim to use our whole bodies in ways that they’re made to move, which is not necessarily how we move the body during a normal day or week or sport.
Classes will include:
- Spine and joint mobility work
- Inverting and light acrobatics - cartwheels, handstands, rolls and variants,
- Locomotion: exploring ways to move on all fours,
- Hanging, straight and bent-arm work
- Jumping
- and Co-ordination: doing more than one thing together or in sequence
